Neighbors Helping Neighbors.
We bring Viewpoint residents together — connecting those who could use a little extra support with neighbors who are eager to lend a hand. Support can mean many things: someone to pull your trash and recycling bins to the curb and back, a cart ride to an activity or event, a friendly visit or whatever you mind need.
Our Founder
Donna Kuper
Donna is the spark behind Viewpoint Good Neighbors — with a heart as big as Viewpoint and enough energy to try and do it all (and she usually does!). What started as her helping one neighbor at a time has grown into a whole community of care, fueled by her warm and welcoming spirit.

Whether you’re living alone with no family nearby, recovering from an illness or injury, caring for a loved one, navigating a life change, or simply looking to be more connected, you are welcome here. This is a community where everyone belongs — and where neighbors truly care for one another.
Viewpoint Good Neighbors is an Arizona state-registered nonprofit corporation. Our mission is to help Viewpoint residents live their best lives. Our services are free, but we do gladly accept donations. We use donations to purchase meals, gifts, flowers – anything that will make life easier or happier for the residents we serve. We also use funds to thank our volunteers for their commitment to our mission.

Meet the caring neighbors who roll up their sleeves behind the scenes, helping make Viewpoint Good Neighbors an organization that will outlive all of us!

Donna Kuper
Chief Kindness Officer
My husband and I were full-time RVers for 8 years and spent every winter in Mesa. By spring of 2021, I was ready to settle down. We didn’t look anywhere else, because I’d already decided that I wanted to grow old here with my pickleball friends! I’ve since joined the tennis club and a ladies’ golf league and love spending time with friends. I also enjoy performing with the Viewpoint Concert Band. But it is Viewpoint Good Neighbors that has anchored me to this community. It’s truly an honor to lead this organization and watch it grow. I believe that kindness is the purest expression of love and that when we do good for others, it does us good.

Volunteer Liason
Volunteerism has been one of the mainstays of my existence. I was looking for something to do in retirement when I heard about Viewpoint Good Neighbors. I thought: How perfect that I can volunteer right here where I live! I figured it would be a good way to meet people. It’s also given me a better understanding and appreciation for the issues and needs of our aging population. As a retired English teacher, I love books and also volunteer at the library. Since moving to Viewpoint in 2021, I’ve found a creative outlet in ceramics. I also enjoy playing games – bunco, dime bingo, and other card and board games.

Gretchen Steffen
Ambassador of Goodwill
We came to Viewpoint as snowbirds, but decided to move here full-time in 2020. I signed up to volunteer with Viewpoint Good Neighbors because I was born and raised to serve. My parents instilled in me the importance of being of service to the community. That was a big driver for why I chose counseling as my profession. Back then, I worked with adolescents, especially at-risk teenagers. Now I’m honored to serve an older generation. I love to meet people and listen to their stories. I also volunteer for Aster Empowered Aging and Sunshine Angels. And I keep busy with card games, playing pickleball and hiking.

Champion of Service
After retiring in 2001, my ex and I bought a motorhome with the intention of traveling the United States. Viewpoint was our first stop that winter – we fell in love and never left! I wanted to get involved with Viewpoint Good Neighbors because I had been helping residents and recognized that there was a real need. In our first year, I saw an opportunity to organize a holiday baked goods fundraiser and now it’s an annual event. I keep busy playing cards – I love pretty much all card games and socializing with other card players. My motto is to live by the golden rule: Do unto others as you would have done unto you.

Peg Paul
Chief Community Builder
We came to Viewpoint first in our motorhome in October 2021 after selling our home in the Midwest. We chose this area because hiking is my passion, and East Mesa is near some of the best hiking trails in the valley. The following spring we bought our home and are full-time residents. I run a marketing communications business specializing in public safety awareness programs. When Donna came up with idea of neighbors helping neighbors, I could see that she had identified a real need. I serve on several national boards, but being on this one in my own community makes me feel good. I love what I do and I’m grateful that the work I do helps people here and elsewhere.
Every gift gives us the financial resources to surprise the residents we serve in the most delightful ways
— and some very practical ways too. Your gift helps make that happen!
No gift is too small — every contribution makes a difference!
